A recent machine vision project was completed by our colleagues in AIS Vision Spain, for their customer, Daymsa (chemical manufacturer), who wanted to ensure the proper label was applied on each bottle (20L and 5L) and the cap was properly threaded.
The vision systems includes an MX40 processor and 3 x M390C camera (color units). One camera looks at the label on each side, and the third looks at the cap. On each label, we inspect: postion, color, pattern, barcode, OCR for the label reference and OCR for the volume.
On the cap, we inspect: correct reference (4 different types), angle, and thread (to make sure it is threaded as much as possible). The top camera is mounted on top of a linear actuator that goes up and down automatically when the bottles are 20L or 5L so it looks perpendicular to the cap.
The comms with the PLC allow for a fully automated reference load/unload and the input of variable data. Once the commands are created, there is no need for human intervention on each new production.
The system was fully developped by AIS Vision including mechanical design, engineering, vision system programming and installation.
A second line is now in progress. If you would like to discuss this project or your machine vision requirements in general, please do not hesitate to contact us.
