Our customer, a global medical device company, required smart display terminals for their manual pack stations.
The application required a smart terminal to receive barcode date from 3 different barcodes, the smart terminal (VB-6) would then extract sections of each code to create a 'look up' barcode. The look-up code was then used to extract another code from a table stored on the VB-6. The resulting code was then transmitted to a Zebra label printer to produce another barcode label which is attached to the medical device.
The operator is kept informed via the colour touch screen on the VB-6 and this also allows the operator to choose how many labels they wish to print for each product. The input barcodes have to be scanned in a particular order, if this order is broken, or an incorrect code is scanned, the VB-6 displays an error message on screen and, one of the 6 relay outputs is used to trigger an audible alarm.
